“I am not a career politician but a mom with a servants heart. I will lead with integrity and continue to partner with parents as we strive to raise the standard of excellence in our education system.”

— Alicia Farrant

Alicia Farrant has a proven track record of effective leadership in our city and currently serves as the District 3 School Board Member for Orange County Public Schools. She has championed a return to phonics-based literacy instruction through the Science of Reading, ensuring that students gain strong foundational reading skills. She prioritized safety and has worked hard to continue implementing the highest standard of safety measures in our schools. She stood in support of policies that protect fairness and privacy by keeping boys out of girls’ sports and bathrooms. She also took action to remove pornographic materials from school library shelves, keeping our schools age-appropriate and focused on learning. Through these efforts, Alicia worked to bring common sense and academic integrity back to our local education system.

She is a bold leader who has been called upon by local and state law makers to help protect and defend our children in public schools. In 2022, she was part of the historic bill signing for Parental Rights in Education that brought forth much needed curriculum transparency. She has been on the forefront of subsequent bills and laws that have brought much needed reformation to our education system.

Time and again, Alicia has shown that she is willing to stand up, speak out, and put herself on the line to protect and defend our children. She embodies the bold, principled leadership our community deserves. Alicia Farrant is the courageous leader we need to bring a spirit of excellence and high quality academics to Orange County Public Schools.

On a Personal Note…

Aside from being the current District 3 School Board Member for Orange County Public Schools, Alicia is a mother of five children all of whom have been raised within the Orange County Public school system. She is the founder of Wigs of Hope, providing wigs to children battling cancer. She personally has sewn and crafted hundreds of wigs, bringing hope to countless children and families facing the hardships of childhood cancer. Alicia serves as vice president of Impact Nations, a non-profit founded by her husband Jonathan Farrant. Together they have committed to serving underprivileged communities in Central America. They have built homes to provide safety and care for those who have been abandoned or are victims of human trafficking.

Alicia and Jonathan have been married for 24 years. Jonathan was born and raised in Orlando; an alumni of Boone High School. He is the son of Puerto Rican parents who taught him the value of hard work and servant leadership. He is an ordained minister, author, and is also a chaplain for the Orlando Police Department. He continues to live and lead by his late father’s motto: “If your life isn’t a message, your message has no life.”

“I am confident Alicia will continue her dedication to public service as Chair of the Orange County School Board with the same courage and enthusiasm she’s brought to a lifetime of public service. - Jonathan Farrant

Alicia has grown up in a life of public service and helping those in need. At the age of 13 she moved to Guatemala with her family to engage in full time charity work. It is there that she learned to speak Spanish and how to adapt to a new culture. After high school she went into the medical field working her way from a CNA to an RN. The high-stakes environment of the emergency room, is where she thrived. It was in those critical moments with patients that her composure and compassion truly stood out. Her dedication to providing care when people were at their most vulnerable made a profound impact on her life and those she helped.

When she’s not serving her community, you’ll find her with her husband and five kids — battling it out over a board game, getting lost in a good book, or simply laughing with friends over coffee.
